Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup shortening, vegetable
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ cups applesauce
- 2 teaspoons soda, dissolved in a little hot water
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup raisins or nuts
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cream sugar and shortening.
- Beat in egg.
- Sift dry ingredients.
- Add soda, applesauce, and flour with batter.
- Pour in greased pan.
