Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, pork sausage, or Italian sausage
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes, #2 can, 2 ½ cups
  • 1 can tomato paste, 6 ounces, ¾ cup
  • 1 package wide noodles, 10 ounces
  • 2 cartons cottage cheese, 12 ounces each
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parsley flakes
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown meat in oil. Add next 6 ingredients. Simmer uncovered until thick, about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  2. Cook noodles in salted water until tender. Meanwhile, combine cottage cheese with next 5 ingredients.
  3. Place a layer of noodles on bottom of pan, 13x9x2. Spread with ⅓ cottage cheese. Add mozzarella cheese layer, then hamburger layer, then start layers over again.
  4. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.
